Recap of Streetscape workshop; Teresa McClish
Teresa distributed “Summary of Workshop #1- January 23, 2008 ” of the SB Road Streetscape Master Plan formulated by Firma, the consulting firm. Issue was immediately taken with the statement “Existing power lines should be assumed to be under-grounded in the next five years”. The “Summary” will be reviewed in detail at the
February 25, 2009 special meeting. Paul asked to be included in meetings of the City Planning Council and the consulting firm. Currently, the money for the survey is coming out of the improvement fund. It was felt that the City should “re-visit” this since they should have a good survey of Shell Beach in any case. Carolyn Johnson of City Planning reiterated that the City Council allocated money to the specific SB project, not to SBIG. There are many issues to discuss at the next February meeting. It was noted that there were no follow-up articles about the January 23, 2008 meeting. March 3 Workshop will be the presentation of possibilities.
Announcements:
Easter Egg Hunt will be March 22, 2008 at Dinosaur Caves Park . Food vendors will be solicitated to participate. Signs will be posted at the Park and former school venue.
Old Business
Neighborhood Watch
Paul met with Jake Miller. Officer fears that “Safe Places” will become attractive to predator employees. We do want police involved with neighborhood watch program. The city's police representative is going to look into alternative programs to the safe place and neighborhood watch before getting involved at this time.
Refuse/recycle cans and mutt mitts
2 cans on private property will be pilot program. They will be painted on site. Sponsors are already interested. March 15, 2008 is can clean-up day. April 5, 2008 is the alternative date. Ash cans were deemed a maintenance problem at this point.
Website Report-Rick Turton
There were 121 visits in 4 days. 43 on Friday, Feb 8. Discussion of website possibilities, i.e. ask for donations, advertisements, payment account, sponsors, link to City event calendar. Rick needs help with website, will again give members the “code” to add their info or event.

Tile Project: Laurie Cummings
6 X 6 tiles would be sold as a fundraiser for improvements which would be done once enough money had been raised. This was successful in Ocean Beach , involving the community in picking the block to place the tiles and generally improving the area.
It was promoted at a booth at community fairs. Other fundraisers were mentioned, i.e. cook-offs, a farmer's market at Dinosaur Caves Park .
Work Shop Townhall Meeting- March 3, 2008
SBIG February 25, 2008 meeting will review “Summary” of January 23, 2008 Workshop. Consultant David Foote will attend. We look for a recap from him and what he wants to accomplish at the next workshop, how it will be structured. We need to decide what we want to accomplish. Logistics of meeting will be addressed, i.e. food, drink, set-up.
