November 12, 2007

Regular meeting of SBIG called to order at the Veterans' Hall at 5:35pm. by Paul Schiro, Chair

Attending:

Officers in Attendance: Paul Schiro, Chair; Dottie Kreowski, Treasurer; Bernie Suttle, Vice-Chair.

Officers Absent: Mollie Montgomery, Secretary

Members in Attendance: Joan Suttle, Suzie Fulton, Charlene West, Brian Craig Kreowski, RickTurton, Marilee Hyman, Tony Hyman.

The Minutes of the last meeting were approved.

The Agenda for the current meeting was approved.

Treasurer's Report

Additional money went into the account including a $25 promotional bonus from the bank and $32.94 refund for checks and an un-identified person paid dues by direct deposit. Current balance, $1081.75.

Paul is trying to arrange a meeting with Chief Cortez.

Streetscapes

SBIG is waiting for consultants work.

Trash Cans

Charlene, Paul and Bernie went to see the equipment available in Santa Maria . They found at least fifteen 22 gallon cans with metal tops which are in fine shape, including ashtrays. The liners are made by Rubbermaid and cost $40-$50 including shipping. The SBIG discussed a way to get them here and prepared for artists. It was recalled that Mike Spangler said he would transport them.

Motion made by Marilee Hyman: Two full sets will be put at two different locations on private property as a pilot program. Seconded by Suzie Fulton. PASSED

Charlene will contact Mike Spangler regarding transport. Dotte will store the cans on her property until ready for use. Discussion ensued regarding specifying parameters for artists, which artists might participate, need for a committee, theme, application including sketch and a possible event. It was recognized that the first thing to do is get the cans here. Paul is arranging a meeting with, Kevin Rice for Thursday this week.

Website

The meeting participants reviewed the new SBIG website created by Rick Turton. The SBIG acknowledged the valuable and skilled work done by Rick Turton in creating the website. Before this website, search on the Internet for “ Shell Beach , CA ” would produce nothing. The site opens to the blog page which changes constantly. Tony Hyman agreed to maintain the blog. SBIG officers and titles may be listed. Contacts will be directed to the Information Officer's email address.

New Business

Newsletter

Suzie has been requesting material. She will make a calendar showing when content is due and bring it to the next SBIG meeting.

Getting Information Out

Paul will put out an email message directing members to the website to see the minutes and agendas. Suzie will do a press release about website. Paul will inform The Executive Committee by email about a future meeting.
